The Knights of Columbus

THE KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS
THE SAINT VINCENT PALLOTTI COUNCIL
LITTLE ITALY, BALTIMORE, MD

The Knights of Columbus was started in 1882 at St. Mary’s Church in New Haven, Connecticut by Father Michael J. McGivney, whose cause for Canonization is currently being considered by the Vatican. From its humble beginnings, our fraternal Order has grown into the largest Catholic lay organization in the world, dedicated to the principles of charity, unity, fraternity and patriotism. It is our goal to offer membership to every eligible Catholic man. Membership in the Knights of Columbus is open to men 18 years of age or older who are practical (that is, practicing) Catholics in union with the Holy See. This means that an applicant or member accepts the teaching authority of the Catholic Church on matters of faith and morals, aspires to live in accord with the precepts of the Catholic Church, and is in good standing in the Catholic Church.
The 14,000-plus local Knights of Columbus councils are where our good works are carried out every day. Our 1.8 million members and their families, through their involvement in their local councils, are working for the betterment of their parishes and communities.

Our Patron Saint: St. Vincent Pallotti
