  The Paintings below are by Felippo Costaggini, an artist from Rome(1839–1904) who also worked on the paintings in the Capitol in Washington, D.C. and the Baltimore Cathedral. The images below may be seen at the left and right sides of the sanctuary ceiling.

 

 

This portrait of Pope Leo XIII was painted by the same artist, Felippo Costaggini, who painted the images above. A Mrs.Mary Frances happened upon this by chance; her father had been the station master at the old Green Spring Station and someone had abandoned it there. Joseph D'Adamo obtained the portrait from Mrs.Shepherd.

Costaggini's signature (enlarged below) at the bottom right corner of the painting attests to its authenticity
